What is the mold release agent?
The mold release agent is used to form a semi-permanent film layer that does not participate in the reaction and isolates the mold and the product so that the product can be easily taken out from the mold. It requires high adhesion to the mold and does not react with the product.
Industry applications of mold release agent
Polyurethane products (automobile bumpers, crash pads, and instrument panels, shoe soles), metal die casting industry (especially magnesium, aluminum, zinc alloy metal castings), tire industry, etc.
The mold Release agent can be divided into two types: internal release agent and external release agent.
External release agent uses dimethyl silicone oil as the main raw material. It is directly to be coated on the mold and is mainly used for demolding of epoxy resin products and silicone molds.
Internal release agent uses high-viscosity silicone oil, mixed with the raw material, and oozes from the products raw material at a certain temperature to form a film. (Internal release agent can improve the fluidity of the masterbatch, reduce the surface friction coefficient and improve the wear resistance, lubricity, gloss and hydrophobicity of the finished product. Using polyfunctional active MQ silicone resin, hydroxyl silicone oil, and magnesium stearate into the thermoplastic resin can also improve the flame retardancy of the finished product). It is suitable for demoulding the automobile industry, gym equipment, medical facilities, home culture, education, entertainment and etc.
Our XJY-8205 (Methyl MQ Resin) and XJY-821 (Water-based Silicone Resin) can be used as mold release agents. They have below advantages,
- Excellent fluidity: To form a uniform film and make less surface accumulation to ensure the products’ surface smooth, size accurate, and improving the yield.
- Durable to use (release times): It can be used continuously for tens to hundreds of times, reducing mold maintenance, repairing costs, and improving production efficiency (while silicone oil and silicone oil emulsion mold release agent need to be refreshed frequently).
- High-temperature resistance (thermal stability): The stable temperature higher than almost all types of rubber, so the mold release agent will not be thermal decomposed or carbonized.
